The young german shepherd is talented in many ways and very active. It needs a lot of attention to become a civilized and well-mannered dog. It shows very good reactions in comparison to other breed of dogs and is eager to learn, fast-learning, intelligent and very curious but needs to be shown consequences.

It is important that the dog trust you and has confidence in you. This is best achieved in being consequent in your behaviour and allow body contact.

It should get used to be alone at night so place his "bed" every night a bit further away from your bed. In the beginning you have to go outside with him at nighttime too.

From 2 month onwards:  3 - 4 meals daily, 350 - 400 g lean beef with rice and vegetables, plus wheat germ oil, mineral nutrients and bone meal.

For the teeth: Give it 2 times weekly soft calf bones.

From 4 month onwards:  It needs 3 meals daily, around 350 g meat and the above-mentioned other things, which are distributed among 3 meals.

From 6 month onwards:  2 meals daily are sufficient. The dog eats around 450 g meat and give it a bit of yeast to get a nice coat (fur).

The dog is grown up after around 14 months.
