German Nouns

English people who like to learn German have problems learning german nouns, because all nouns have a gender. (der, die or das) There are Nouns for persons, things and ideas and their grammatical gender has to be learned as well.

The gender of the nouns does not always correspond to the sex of the noun. For persons most of the time a masculine noun does have a masculine gender and a feminine noun
has a feminine gender, but this is often not the case with objects or animals. Here the gender can be masculine, feminine or neuter.

When you learn a german noun like "Mann" or "Frau" then always learn the article (der, die, das) as well! Example: der Mann, die Frau

The Plural can be different. Sometimes you add er (Kinder) or just e (Tage) or change the a into ä like Väter.
After a while you get used to it. Just read a lot and speak a lot.

If you have a feminine word then just add an e to ein to create eine.
This will occur only in Singular form as in Plural you don't use ein or eine at all, but leave it away.

Im Haus sind viele Frauen. In the house are many women.
In der Stadt sind viele Geschäfte. In the city are many shops.
