German Castor Transport

Castor means: „cask for storage and transport of radioactive material“. Year after year the german castor transport brings radioactive material from France to Germany / Gorleben.

This Freight train with French-produced Transnuclear TN 85 nuclear waste containers is upsetting many germans and protests are coming in from all sides.

Especially young people (students) peacefully fight year after year against the police to hinder and to slow down the Castor Train on its way to Gorleben. The train always arrives Gorleben in the end, but these protests cost millions of euro every year as thousands of policemen have to escort and protect the Castor Train to overcome various blockades created by protestors.

Many chain themselves to the rails and it takes a lot of time and effort to free the rails by the police. Read more in german at the Castor Website

If this stupid procedure of bringing a lot of radioactive material to Germany goes on, then sooner or later there will be radioactive contamination all over the country. What about future generations?

We should use alternative energy concepts only. Imagine the first Castor Transport to Gorleben started April 1995, a long time ago, but still no progess has been made because politicians are slow learners and the atom lobby doesn't care. Main thing is that they make money... Amen
